From the good news-bad news department:
Good: school is back in session and we can all begin to return to that state we optimistically call “normal.”
Bad: weather forecast is a 60% shot of snow on Thursday.
I must confess to having gotten quite a bit of enjoyment out of the two weeks we were off from school. For one, there were no lunches to pack, and no homework to supervise. My laundry shrank considerably, due to the constant wearing of the same set of jammies for days at a time. Our routine became rather lackadaisical, as did our diet. I managed to soak up the moments of what might possibly be the final year Spawn believes in Santa. (Reinforced by a personal note from Santa this year.) Without a doubt this past holiday season has had its’ ups and downs, but on the whole I came through it without feeling terribly wrung out.
However.
I am not quite as keen on having a day or three off due to inclement weather, so soon after two weeks off. The past two weeks were built into the school calendar; any additional days off at this point would be snow days and therefore need to be made up. Complete with homework, don’tcha know.
At this point it’s too early to tell if the forecast models are accurate. That we’ll know more about the closer it gets to the end of the week. Until then, we’ll be playing that game of will-it-won’t-it and frankly that is not my idea of a good time.

Not to rub it in, but it’s sunny here in California. Plop… Oh that was another key lime dropping off the tree out back.
I talked to a friend the other night and she was obsessing over whether to tell her son. I think her kids are almost 12. Okay, her son is autistic, but really. You gotta let them know ’bout Santa before they start dating.
I must confess that I wore the same pair of jammies for days in a row over vacation myself. Tomorrow it’s back to school. FYI – My son’s prognosis is better. Skin graft later in the week. I’ll drive up for that. Hell of a way to get rid of those tattoos!
Glad to hear about your son. I daresay he won’t be tatting that new skin.
